Hi All,

Correct now I'1000 doing some painting at work and accept some used mineral spirits used for cleaning the brushes. My question is this: is there a style to filter out the paint and spent paint from this "used" mineral spirits to clarify it to some degree so I can keep using it?

The simply cheap things I tin can think of would be paint strainers for the course, bigger particulates (bachelor at paint stores, patently, or auto torso shops) and possibly coffee filters to filter out the finer particulates. Since you lot're filtering mineral spirits, viscosity shouldn't exist a problem and the mineral spirits should laissez passer through even the finer mesh filters without much problem.

Withal, this won't filter out all the contaminates and you lot wouldn't desire to re-use your mineral spirits "over & over" because the the spirits will eventually chemically interruption down. I would call back a few times of straining wouldn't be much of a trouble, merely more that would be pushing it. Best to refresh your cleaning solution with fresh spirits for optimal results.

Why bother? The stuff is and then cheap information technology's easier just to replace it with new.

If you leave it in a sealed flat jar the particles will settle naturally and you lot can draw off the resulting clear liquid with a syringe. But as 000TA says y'all tin only practice it a limited number of times before the spirit loses its ability to dissolve enamel.
